Glue lines
Humidification on glue lines
Although going unnoticed, the glue phase is of crucial importance for the quality of many products. The strength of a product can depend on the quality of the adhesive bond. Due to a moderate or poor adhesive bond, the top layer and bottom layer can easily come apart at a later stage, despite the gluing process being simple to optimize.
Tensile strength tests show that the strength of the adhesive bond is largely related to the air conditions under which the adhesive is applied. In order to guarantee a constant tensile strength, it is important to regulate not only the temperature, but also the humidity during the gluing process. For example, polyurethane / hot melt adhesives react very highly to the moisture in the air. By increasing the humidity during the gluing process, strong and even curing will occur for optimal tensile strength and a quality product.
